Unleashed is good software.It's also built for a bigger business than yours.
Unleashed is aimed at distributors and mid-market manufacturers with warehouses, sales reps and B2B price tiers. It does that properly. But its entry plan lists around $399/month, and most small-batch manufacturers looking at it are trying to solve a much narrower problem: what does this cost me to make, and what's actually on the shelf.

What Unleashed does well
Four things it genuinely does better than we do.
B2B and wholesale as a first-class model
Customer-specific pricing tiers, quotes, backorders, a B2B ordering portal. If a meaningful share of your revenue is wholesale accounts rather than retail customers, Unleashed is built around that and we aren't.
Warehouse operations
Pick lists, dispatch workflows, stock counts across multiple physical sites, bin locations. This is warehouse software done by people who understand warehouses, and it's a different discipline from workshop inventory.
Accounting integrations
Mature, well-regarded two-way sync with Xero and QuickBooks Online. If your bookkeeper has strong opinions about how inventory journals land, Unleashed will have thought about it more than most.
Scale headroom
It'll carry you a long way up. If you're confident you're heading for multiple warehouses and a big product catalogue within two years, buying the bigger system once can beat migrating twice.
The $399 question
Worth doing this arithmetic before you book the demo, not after.
Unleashed's entry plan lists at around $399/month, with the higher tier around $729/month. Call it $4,800 a year at the bottom of the range.
For a manufacturer running on a 40% gross margin, $4,800 of software is roughly $12,000 of revenue a year that exists purely to pay for the tool. That's a real number, and for a business doing $150–300k it's a visible slice of the year.
It can absolutely be worth it — if you're using the wholesale ordering, the warehouse workflows and the sales team app. The failure mode we see is a small manufacturer paying distribution-platform prices and using it as a costing tool, because costing was the actual problem all along.
A useful test
Write down the three things you want the software to do on day one. If all three are some version of “know my costs”, “know my stock” and “stop the spreadsheet”, you're shopping in the wrong bracket. If one of them involves a wholesale customer, a warehouse team or a sales rep, you're shopping in the right one.

Wholesale is a real channel for you
Per-customer pricing, B2B ordering, backorder management. We don't have these, and workarounds get ugly fast once you're past a handful of stockists.
You have warehouse staff
Pick lists, bin locations, dispatch queues. If people other than you are physically moving stock to a process, you need software that models that process.
Xero is non-negotiable today
Unleashed's Xero sync is mature. Ours is listed as coming soon, so if two-way Xero posting has to work from day one, that's a straightforward answer.
You're scaling hard and fast
If multiple warehouses and a big catalogue are twelve months away rather than five years, migrating twice may cost more than starting on the bigger platform.
Publicly listed pricing as of August 2026 puts Unleashed Core at around $399/month and Unleashed Pro at around $729/month, with a discount for annual billing. Pricing varies by region and by what's negotiated, so treat those as the shape rather than the quote. Stocksmith Indie is $83/mo billed annually, with entry plans below that.
Is Stocksmith a genuine replacement for Unleashed?
For the manufacturing and costing half, yes. For the distribution half, no. Bills of materials, production runs, batch and lot tracking, cost per unit and COGS all have direct equivalents. What has no equivalent is the wholesale side — B2B ordering portal, customer price tiers, warehouse pick and dispatch, field sales app. If you use those, this isn't a like-for-like swap and we'd rather say so.
Why is Unleashed so much more expensive?
Because it's sold to a different buyer. Unleashed is priced for distributors and mid-market manufacturers where the software replaces headcount and coordinates a warehouse team — at that scale $400/month is easy to justify. Stocksmith is priced for a business where the founder is still in production. Neither is overpriced for its market; the mistake is buying across the gap.
Can I move my data from Unleashed to Stocksmith?
Yes, via CSV. Unleashed exports products, suppliers, customers and stock on hand; Stocksmith imports materials, products and opening inventory counts. Bills of materials generally need rebuilding rather than importing, because the structures don't map cleanly between systems. The 14-day trial plus the included onboarding call is aimed squarely at getting that first set of recipes in.
Does Stocksmith handle serial numbers?
Stocksmith tracks batches and lots rather than per-unit serial numbers. For food, cosmetics, supplements and personal care that's the right granularity and it's what compliance actually asks for. If you need to trace an individual numbered unit through its life — common in electronics and equipment — Unleashed handles that and we don't.
